Once scanned, you can use WhatsApp from your PC. Now scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen. Open WhatsApp on your Android and navigate to the Menu > Settings > WhatsApp Web. You will be asked to scan the QR code via the mobile app. Then, as soon as it has been recognised, the desktop app will be linked with your account. Once installed, open the WhatsApp app on your PC. That said, to run this app you need to make sure your smartphone is synced to the app, which is why the device needs to be on and share the same web connection to enjoy. Using the desktop version on your Mac is easy as soon as you have downloaded and installed the app, you simply need to scan the QR code on the screen with your phone using WhatsApp (Open WhatsApp, click Menu and select WhatsApp Web).

With this tool, you can send multimedia content, create and manage groups, save conversations, make changes to your profile, and even take photos with your computer's built-in camera. Once that's done, all conversations and contacts on your WhatsApp will be synced so you can talk to them from your Mac just like you would on your smartphone. Just like in the web version, you need to sync your mobile client with the program using a QR code (you need to scan it and follow the instructions featured in WhatsApp Desktop's main interface). Luckily, there's a new official version that, despite being based on WhatsApp's web app, lets you use it directly as if it was just another app, without the need to open a browser.

Although there is a way to enjoy your favorite chat app right from your Mac, WhatsApp Web's biggest drawback is that you can only use it from a web browser.
